Lyrela Fragrance was born from a simple but powerful belief: perfume is more than a luxury. It is identity. It is memory. It is healing.
From the very beginning, the dream was to create a brand that could stand proudly on the global stage — while being made right here in Nigeria. Not just imported oils rebottled and sold, but perfumes, body mists, and musks crafted with love, artistry, and resilience.
The Struggle Before the Scent
Just as Lyrela was about to take flight, life took me in a different direction. I became seriously ill for months. Every single naira saved for the brand went into treatments, hospital bills, and eventually, surgery.
Coming back from surgery, I had nothing left. But I still had the dream.
Then the unimaginable happened: I developed nose blindness.
For a perfumer, this is like losing your most important tool. My first trial after recovery was a complete failure. I couldn’t even smell my own work.
Support, Training & Resilience
But dreams don’t die easily. With the support of a close friend who became my “nose” — testing and guiding me through each formula — and with the right medication and consistent training, I slowly began to recover my sense of smell.
It wasn’t easy. Every failure was painful, every small win was a victory. But it was worth it.
Creating the First of Its Kind in Nigeria
Building a perfume brand in Nigeria comes with unique challenges. One of the hardest was making musk locally. Musk is complex, delicate, and often imported. But I refused to let that stop me. Through research, experimentation, and persistence, Lyrela proudly crafted one of the first locally produced musks in Nigeria.
